Emma Jennings

Foodbank Manager

I have been involved with SBC since 2009, and have been working for the Skipton Food Bank, which is run by our church to serve the community of Craven, since Sept 2020.

I am married to Paul and have 3 children, Tom, Isaac and Hannah, who are all part of SBC.

Since moving to Skipton for Paul's work, I had been looking after the children full time. When they started to need me a little less (at least during school hours) I got involved in volunteering for the food bank and as a CAP befriender, and other things at church.  I really enjoyed working with people who are struggling financially and often in other ways too, by supporting them and offering help on behalf of our church, and therefore in some ways on behalf of Jesus.  I particularly love the opportunity CAP brings to pray with people.

I initially took the role at the food bank to support the manager, and then when she left, I took over the role of food bank manager.

In what now seems like a previous lifetime ( I stopped in 2009 to spend more time with our children)  I was a GP in Bradford, having trained in Leeds. Being a doctor showed me that I love meeting and interacting with all sorts of different people, I particularly enjoy listening to people.

My hobbies are, walking anywhere beautiful, seeing family and friends, sitting and sometimes gardening in my garden.
